Responsive Classroom
Responsive Classroom and PBIS The First Six Weeks of School Weekly questions: July 26th- First Day of School: How can you immerse the students in the language you will teach without overwhelming them on day one? What materials and support do you need in order to accomplish this? August 2nd- Week One: What is one example of academic choices you will give your students in the first week? What is your favorite way to update parents on what is happening in the classroom? August 9th- Reaching out to parents: Review the letter on page 13 of the First Six Weeks of School (or see image on Jamboard). Make time with your grade level team this week to brainstorm a communication method, draft language, and then share a summary of your ideas here so we can be on the same page:) August 16th- Week Three: What are some ways you will set a positive tone in your classroom starting from day one? Look at the table on pg 173 or refer to the image on the Jamboard to brainstorm ways to address your class that helps them to develop a positive self identity. August 23rd- Weeks Four-Six: In addition to proactively teaching positive behavior skills, RC outlines three logical consequences to use: Positive Time-Out, Loss of Privilege, and Break it, Fix It. Post an example of when or how you would use one of these logical consequences. Respond on this Jamboard |

Classroom Considerations:

Building Design Plans
"...A classroom that already looks in full swing on day one can be disorienting. A room that's tidy and inviting, with open wall space and shelves, can feel more welcoming to students." -page 10, The First Six Weeks of School |
